Drift School Australia was founded in 2008 by renowned professional drifter Fernando Wiehrl who had been competing Internationally (D1 World All Stars Series) and nationally since 2004. The idea of the school came about from Fernando being constantly asked by fans at events how they could learn to drift. With very humble beginnings the school originally operated at Oran Park Raceway as Project D Drift School with two cars and one product, which remains as DSA’s premium product ‘Drift Masterclass’.

The school has relocated to a few venues within Sydney (from Oran Park raceway to Sydney Dragway) and evolved in 2016 to Drift School Australia and is Australia’s largest and longest running Drift School.
Drift School Australia’s new home is Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP), one of only a handful of true international standard racetracks in the Southern Hemisphere.
DSA has a fleet of over 10 cars including S14 and S15 Silvia’s, R32 RB25 power Skyline, 350Z, 2 x Commodore SS Utes, Ford XR6 Turbo and Toyota GT86.
The school offers products for those who are keen to get behind the wheel and learn the art of drifting or for those who prefer to be in the passenger seat, we have hot laps experiences on offer in drift spec set-up vehicles with professional drift drivers.
Our instructors are handpicked not only for their drifting ability but also for their training prowess and their ability to communicate and articulate how each drift technique is performed.All instructors have undertaken the Drift School Australia training program which includes;DSA techniques, delivery, customer service and risk assessment policy.Our instructors work as a team to ensure there is consistent delivery of DSA standards in a fun, safe and risk free environment for our customers.
Drift School Australia has developed a range of products to suit all budgets and preferences; an extensive range of weekend dates for students to choose from; a fleet of over 10 cars and a team of seasoned instructors led by professional drifter Fernando Wiehrl.

FERNADO WIEHRL, DIRECTOR, DSA
Fernando Wiehrl, driver of the AutoSalon Industrie Car in the Drift Australia Series and D1 All Star, is the Founder & Director of Drift School Australia.
As one of the most renowned professional drifters in Australia, Fernando started his career in drifting and competing nationally and internationally since 2004, winning a number of competitions and taking out top place titles in various seasons including D1 WORLD All-stars Series.
As an active competitor and head instructor at Drift School Australia, Fernando’s skills are unrivalled.
Career highlights include
- Competing in the D1 WORLD All-stars in California alongside other internationally renowned drifters and defeating one of Japan’s best drifters in a controversial overtake maneuver.
- Back-to-back wins at Queensland Raceway in the 2007 Drift Australia Series followed by Oran Park in Sydney.
- Winning a Top10 spot in the D1 World Series.
